Universal childcare in the U.S.? Yes, during the WPA

Did you know the Works Project Administration provided universal childcare? This both helped to employ teachers, and helped to provide affordable coverage for parents who were working or looking for work. Adjusted for inflation, it cost $7.25 per day.
